This course aims to provide an overview of Spanish cinema through a selection of themes that have been a constant since its beginnings and that are inherent to Spanish culture. We’ll explore Spanish cinema guided by these themes and through different genres and periods, visions and specific filmmakers. Using films directly and occasionally literature as a resource, students will be able to have a broad understanding of Spanish cinema as well as Spanish culture and history, its uniqueness and its evolution throughout several decades.
