This panel will provide a clearer understanding of how AI is already being applied in the financial services sector, its implications for cybersecurity, and what the near future holds.

SPEAKERS
- Moderator: Rafif Srour, Vice Dean, School of Technology and Innovation. She is an academic leader at IE University with international experience across Lebanon, the USA, and Spain. She specializes in teaching, data analytics, and research, and is a strong advocate for innovation in higher education through curriculum design and the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
- A multiple-time Best Professor Award winner, she actively promotes coaching, mentoring, and women’s empowerment in STEM as a board member of IE Women’s Unit and a member of the Learning Innovation Hub. In 2021, she was recognized among the Top 183 Leading Data Academics by CDO Magazine and among Spain’s 55 leading women in technology (“Yo, Jefa”). She currently serves as Executive Vice Dean of the School of Science and Technology at IE University.
- Vishal Shete – Experienced entrepreneur focused on applying innovative technologies to some of the most complex challenges across industries such as financial services. He led the growth of Terra Quantum into one of the world’s leading quantum technology companies, raising USD 100 million. He has a strong track record in senior executive roles within financial services and management consulting.
- Dr Ángel Gavieiro, AG Strategy & Partners – A senior international banking executive and board-level strategist with over 25 years of experience across EMEA, the Americas and APAC. Guided by values of integrity, leadership, teamwork, delivery and excellence, he supports investors and CEOs in driving sustainable success in financial services. He has led wholesale banking businesses with full P&L responsibility (USD 5 billion in assets; USD 175 million in profits) and has held senior strategic roles at Wells Fargo, Lloyds and Barclays. His expertise spans corporate and investment banking, M&A, transformation, digital innovation, and advising growing banks and fintechs, underpinned by an early career at McKinsey.
- Jesús Elorza, OpenAI (TBC) – Prior to joining OpenAI as Head of Strategic Initiatives, he led a team at Google focused on proactively identifying and mitigating emerging threats to user trust and safety. His team provided actionable intelligence to decision-makers, enabling them to protect Google’s billions of users. He specialises in translating complex data into clear insights, particularly for executive audiences, to drive effective risk mitigation strategies. His experience spans AI, disinformation, hate speech, extremism and electoral integrity.
