The BritishSpanish Society chairman, Jimmy Burns Marañon chaired a footballl panel on the theme, Argentina & England: a shared passion, at the London residence of her excellency the Argentine ambassador Alicia Castro on May 21st.
Other main speakers were Ossie Ardiles & Riki Villa (both World Cup and FA Cup winners), the TV and radio sports commentator Victor Hugo Morales, and author and Daily Telegraph columnist Jim White. Both speakers and subject proved popular with the over 200 guests. Ms Castro wore an Argentine shirt signed by Diego Maradona. Empanadas and wine were served after a lively discussiion lasting nearly two hours with which the audience actively participated.
