Get ready for a literary feast from 12 to 15 September as the historic Castilian city of Segovia hosts the XIX edition of the Hay Festival. This year’s event promises a rich and diverse programme, featuring notable British cultural contributions.
One highlight is British author Eley Williams, one of Granta’s Best Young British Novelists 2023. On 13 September at 12.00, Eley will discuss her acclaimed debut novel The Liar’s Dictionary with Cristina Ward, Head of Arts at British Council Spain. This novel masterfully blends a love for words with romantic and self-discovery themes and is available in Spanish through Sexto Piso.
Music enthusiasts can enjoy British artist James Massiah, who will perform a DJ set on 12 September at 20.30 during the Hay Festival Youth Party, open to the public. Massiah will also deliver a spoken word performance on 13 September at 20.30, exploring themes like sexuality and mortality.
On 14 September at 12.00, the British Council School Orchestra will present a musical journey from the Baroque period to modern times. Later that day, at 13.30, historian Giles Tremlett will join journalist Anna Bosch and British Embassy Cultural Attaché Debbi Christophers to discuss Spain-UK relations.
