BritishSpanish Society member Ramón Buckley’s father lived in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War. He enjoyed a friendship during his time in Spain with author and fellow journalist Ernest Hemingway. Following his novel “For Whom the Bell Tolls” Ramón and his father re-created Hemingway’s trek over the Guadarrama mountains which begins in Navacerrada and ends in Valsaín at the end of the Eresma valley.

Ramón now organises mountain treks accompanied by readings from Hemingway’s famous novel.

He will be leading a trek through part of the mountains for BritishSpanish Society members and friends this autumn.
