We have been monitoring closely the COVID-19 situation as it unfolds around the world, and specifically how it might impact our members and friends in Spain and the UK.

Given the bi-cultural nature of our charity and also mindful of the global uncertainty and disruption caused by the virus, and the priority of containing its spread and protecting the vulnerable, the Board of Trustees has decided to postpone until further notice all planned events in the UK and Spain.

The BSS continues monitoring the guidelines and protocols from the varied health authorities. We will keep you updated accordingly should the situation change.

Mindful of our charity’s mission and objectives, the Board plans to make every effort to ensure that the charity continues as best it can to meet its cultural and educational commitments.

This will include pressing ahead with the selection of this year’s scholarship awards, and preparation for the next issue of our quarterly magazine La Revista.

We will also endeavour to maximize the use of our website news and social media feeds to keep engaged with our members and corporate and institutional partners and help support each other in a positive and constructive way.

We have little option but to defer to the advice of health experts and government guidelines. The BSS also draws resilience and strength through the basic rules of solidarity and good neighbourliness. These are challenging times in which we can rediscover our common humanity.

Hemos estado siguiendo de cerca la situación del COVID-19 a medida que se ha ido desarrollando en todo el mundo, y específicamente en cómo podría afectar a nuestros miembros y amigos en España y el Reino Unido.

Dada la naturaleza bicultural de nuestra organización y también conscientes de la incertidumbre global y los trastornos causados por el virus, y la prioridad de contener su propagación y proteger a las personas más vulnerables, la Junta de Gobierno de la BSS ha decidido posponer hasta nuevo aviso todos los eventos planificados en el Reino Unido y España.

La BSS continúa atenta a las pautas y protocolos de las diversas autoridades de salud. Es por ello, que les mantendremos informados si la situación cambia.

Conscientes de la misión y los objetivos de nuestra organización, la Junta de Gobierno hará todo lo posible para garantizar que la BSS continúe funcionando lo mejor que pueda para poder cumplir con sus compromisos culturales y educativos.

Esto incluye seguir adelante con la selección de los candidatos a las becas del programa de este año y la preparación del próximo número de nuestra revista trimestral “La Revista”.

Asimismo, nos esforzaremos al máximo por optimizar la comunicación con todos vosotros, haciendo uso de la página de noticias en nuestro sitio web y nuestras cuentas de redes sociales, y así mantener los compromisos adquiridos con nuestros miembros y socios corporativos e institucionales, apoyándonos de una manera positiva y constructiva en estos momentos tan especiales.

No nos queda mucha más opción que ceñirnos a los consejos de los expertos en salud y a las pautas gubernamentales. La BSS también se adapta y se fortalece cumpliendo con las reglas básicas de solidaridad y buena vecindad. Estos son tiempos desafiantes en los que podemos redescubrir lo que de común nos une como seres humanos.
