We welcomed a panel of the following top Spanish football experts to our Fútbol Alegría event on Thursday 6th March to discuss this question and many more:
Guillem Balague – renowned football commentator and author of bestselling biographies of Pepe Guardiola and Lionel Messi
Simon Kuper – Financial Times columnist and author of The Football Men
Jimmy Burns Marañón – Chairman of the BritishSpanish Society and author of Maradona’s biography and La Roja, a history of Spanish football
Enrique Ruiz, Director of the Spanish Tourist Office in London, also behind La Roja’s marketing campaign for the World Cup of 2010
It was a packed house and an evening to remember, with valuable funds being raised for the Society from our auction of exclusive prizes, including a football signed by Real Madrid players and signed football shirts. Books written by our star-studded panel were available for sale and signing throughout the evening, while guests enjoyed Spanish wine, beer and tapas from Michelin-starred chef Marcos Moran at the fabulous Hispania.
We would like to thank everyone who joined us and also our sponsors: the Spanish Tourist Office, Cuatrecasas, Hispania and Soccerex.
